Vegetables Are Growing

A couple of weeks ago after much planning, I finally got the chance to sow my vegetable seeds. I'm expecting approximately 14 radishes, 10 beetroots and 10 carrots. They're are all in nice straight rows, equally spaced because i'm cool like that.
After only two weeks my radishes have started showing signs of growth! Im guessing that ive got another few weeks yet before they are ready to take out of the ground.
Won't be posting any more blogs until i've got something to show you all. In the meantime, try not to get too excited (no sarcasm intended) and i'll speak soon!

Planting Coming Very Very Soon

Hey everyone,
Over the past few weeks I've been keeping a close eye on the weather and it's looking hopeful! This was the BBC Weather for London over the next five days:
Okay... so it's not exactly a heatwave but it's good enough to grow some radishes! I spent this morning on my vegetable patch getting the soil smooth and flat in time for the planting of my seeds hopefully in the next few days.
So it finally looks as if the time is drawing near to plant the seeds after months of preparation! Keep posted for the next blog! It's going to be a big important one! For now I'll leave you with a cringe picture of me looking like a farmer. Ha!
Leave a comment and get in touch, any help will be gratefully recieved. Plus, let me know if you want some vegetables when (and if) they grow. Speak soon!

Seeds, Seeds, Seeds!

I've finally bought some seeds for my Veg Garden! Being a novice to this whole gardening stuff, I was surprised at how cheap they were!? I basically got 1,575 seeds all for the minuscule price of £2.20. This means that there is potential to grow 1,575 vegetables in my back garden, which I must admit is slightly ambitious and daunting!

Realistically, I'll probably only grow two dozen this summer which is more than enough for myself! However, if I'm blessed with a bountiful harvest and have any to spare, then just let me know and you can have them.

So, you're probably wondering what seeds I've actually bought and I don't think you'll be dissapointed! I've chosen carrots, beetroots and radishes due to their lack of difficulty. I want to start off with something simple and these seeds are the perfect option.
I'm not entirely sure when I'll plant them yet because if you live in the UK, you would have undoubtedly noticed the snow and frost we have at the moment. The worst possible conditions to grow vegetables!

If you have any hints or tips then please let me know. I could so with some guidance! I will let you know when im going to sow my seeds (hopefully in the next few weeks).

See you soon!

Welcome to The Veg Garden

If you're reading this post then I thank you sincerely for following the link, however it probably won't live up to your expectations. I mean, who wants to hear about a Uni student starting a vegetable patch in his garden in London?

Well, if you are one of the few who actually do, then I thank you a second time!
So basically, I was looking for a hobby to carry out over the summer and automatically came to the decision to take up growing vegetables. Random eh?

This blog will follow me on my first few steps into the journey of growing my own produce from seed in soil, to vegetable on plate. I will be posting pictures and videos and trying to make gardening as interesting as it could possibly be (which is a difficult task).

So press the follow button, read the blogs and help me on my horticultural journey!
